Stretching Shopping Budgets Part 1: “What’s In Your Pantry” campaign
Stretching Your Consumer’s Shopping Budget Series
Lately my marketing-brainstorms have been all over the board creating opportunities for retailers to encourage “value savings” for their customers. I determined that I couldn’t possibly write all of my ideas down into one blog post… so I decided to create a mini series to help spark ideas for you and your store!
Part 1: “What’s In Your Pantry” campaign
With consumers eating at home more often they are spending more time shopping your aisles looking for recipe ideas, preparation tips, and most importantly savings. The good news for retailers is that our current economic challenges give retailers a unique opportunity to have fun engaging customers and increasing sales in exciting new ways.
Create a “savings” campaign allowing your shoppers to experience your store’s customer care plus offering them immediate savings using their ingredients on hand. This is such a positive exercise designed to help stretch budgets and increase sales.
The intention of this campaign idea is to ask your customers to make a list of items currently on their pantry shelves before coming to your store. Then encourage them to share their list with you and your staff and in return you share recipe ideas combining some items from their list and adding some items from your aisles.
“Bring in your shopping list containing ingredients from your pantry and we’ll help you with recipe and preparation tips. If we can’t, you receive one our “What’s In Your Pantry Recipe Books” free!”
NOTE: Create a simple PDF collection of proven recipes that you and your staff would love to share – it can be 6 pages or 50 – plan to email it to the winners. This “recipe book” can brand your store and promote specialty items and featured services.
If you have a website with a recipe library, you could take your customer right to the computer and do a search for the ingredients and come up with a couple of recipe ideas. Print outs with store information can be provided for the customer’s home use.
So, we’ve provided our customer with a one on one connection, saved them money, put your stores name in their home, and increased sales all while making a customer glad they shop at your store.
Until next time, here’s wishing you a great day! Debby
