Ten Gluten-Free Marketing Opportunities
This week I taught a TeleTraining about Gluten Free Awareness and spoke about all the consumers that are coming into our stores who are dealing with some sort of gluten awareness issue: gluten intolerance, Celiac Disease, food allergies or just interested in consuming less gluten.
It seems like retailers have been given an opportunity to be featured again as the “natural community meeting place and resource center” as well as retail outlet due to people looking to learn about this major health issue that affects hundreds of people in our community.
There are currently tons of publications coming into the lime light now from FREE downloadable PDFs to cookbooks, even YOUTUBE has all kinds of videos like this one that was taped by a FOX TV Baltimore affiliate interviewing the author of “Nearly Normal Cooking for Gluten-Free eating”, Jules E. D. Shepard. Click this link to watch.
Years ago there were no support groups and very little published information available for people diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Now even
NIH (National Institute of Health) has a Celiac Disease Awareness Campaign (www.celiac.nih.gov) that has research information and educational materials in both English and Spanish.
Retailers can take advantage of all of this information and pull together some great marketing opportunities within their stores and communities with just a little extra planning and creative preparation.
Gluten-Free consumers enjoy relationships and the opportunity to share with “like” others. As retailers you can create ways to offer your store as a “come to place” for meetings, learning, and shopping. With all of this in mind I decided to create ten gluten-free marketing opportunities for you to consider adopting at you store. Consider inviting local support groups to help partner or participate in some of the activities and have them spread the word (word of mouth marketing) about your store and your support of issues that are very important to their members and friends.
